Term 4 - Week 6
Principal's Article

Dear Parents/Carers,
Swimming
Our school has long identified with being well-mannered, kind, thoughtful and helpful to others and guide our expectations for behaviour in our school community. The year 4 – 6 students should be congratulated for their behaviour and how they conducted themselves during swimming lessons this year. Congratulations to each and every student in the progress they made at swimming and their beautiful behaviour at the pool.
Class Lists for 2022
Our leadership team are in the process of forming class lists for 2022. The compilation of class groupings is a process involving many considerations. Be assured we do our very best to get the right balance in classes and deliberate on factors such as academic abilities, individual student needs, social considerations, student relationships and previous class placements/teachers.
Forming class lists is a difficult task for all concerned as occasionally, regardless of the care taken, someone may be disappointed. Parents are encouraged to have positive conversations with children in the lead up to 2022. 2022 Class Lists will be placed outside Classrooms on Wednesday 15th December at 2.30pm.
School Reports
School reports will be available for collection on Wednesday 15th December.
Year 6’s – Final weeks of Primary School.
It is hard to believe our Year 6 cohort has entered their final few weeks of Primary School. We wish them all the very best as they continue to work hard and head towards High School. We know with the values gained from our school they will continue on their journey with happy memories of Westminster ESC and a positive mind-set. We wish you all the very best for the rest of Term 4.
Change of school times.
We recently surveyed the school community and staff on whether they would support changing the school start and finish times to 8.45 am to 2.45pm. The majority of people liked the idea of a earlier start and finish time; which we will now present to the school board before collaborating with the Primary School if there is to be a change for 2022.
Kind Regards,
Gary Hobson

News from Room 4
Term 4 is already flying by and our students have been very busy learning indoors and outdoors! We have had so much fun learning new skills with bowling this term as well as learning what our bodies can do during weekly gymnastics sessions.

We completed our Sound Scrapbook craft which went home last term, and the students are now enjoying some shared reading using our new Big Books with a craft activity to assist in their comprehension. Our ‘listening station’ has also been a big hit with stories and listening lotto games.
The students love our TEACCH structure and posting to the relevant area in the classroom where they are working. Our independent work station enables the students to spend some time each day working autonomously through four tasks, allowing them feel success in completing work on their own. Of course they love coming together with other students at the group learning table using fun, hands-on materials.
We have extra help this term with our Education Assistant student, Kathryn Aboo, who has already loved getting to know the students and also our wonderful therapists who often work with us and the students towards common goals and help us with how best to use speech devices and specific language learning strategies with the students.

We enjoyed Farmer Mick and his awesome farm animals that visited as we learnt about different environments and where these animals live.
Our interschool sport carnival was as usual a fantastic day at Beldon with the students demonstrating such wonderful behaviour on the day and every student gave their best and had fun participating in the running races.

Lego League
Selected students from years 3-6 are getting ready to participate in the First Lego League competition on the 1st December. They have been practicing their Lego building and coding skills as well as learning to work as a team on an innovation project on the theme of transport. Well done Steam Team on all your hard work!

Tee Ball
Our Year 3-6 students have been participating in a Tee Ball program that they have been thoroughly enjoying, its a great way to start the day and to enjoy the sunshine we have been having.
