Term 1 - Week 9
Principal's Message
Dear Parents/Carers,
We are heading into what the State Government and Health Department see as being the peak of COVID over the next few days. We had a number of cases which is why it is important that we all try to stay safe, so if your child is unwell, please keep them at home and monitor them for any COVID symptoms. Children and adults with coronavirus may experience fever, flu-like symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, fatigue, and shortness of breath. Some of our students have adapted well to the wearing of masks, which is great for those who are able to.
We also remind parents who have arranged on-site Therapy for their children, that its up to you to notify the Therapist of their absence if it falls on the scheduled therapy day.
On a more exciting note the architect took me on a tour of the building site and I got the opportunity to take some photographs of the renovated classrooms and new staff room. As you can see there is still a way to go but things are starting to come together and will be well worth the wait!
We wish everybody a safe and enjoyable break for the upcoming school holidays and look forward to seeing you all again next term.
Kind Regards,
Gary Hobson

News from Room 6
It has been both a very busy and fun start to the year in Room 6. It is great to see all the students coming back in 2022 with a positive attitude and willingness to learn. They have all settled in beautifully and have adjusted to new programs being introduced to our routine. It has also been wonderful building a positive and happy team of staff who are working to great together. Go the A team!
This weather has been sweltering and has got to be by far the hottest start to the year; which we have been taking complete advantage of by having lots of water play with the students. They all thoroughly enjoyed splashing in the buckets and playing under the inflatable rocket fountain; a bargain that we scored from Kmart!
We now have our very own on-site Speech Therapist, and it has been great collaborating with Lauren, using her speechie skills and knowledge of AUSLAN. We are working together, teaching a LOTE program to the students and they are loving it! Room 19 join us and it is fantastic to see the students learning the same signs, and having fun together.
Our A5 PODD books have officially arrived, and Room 6 are so excited to use them. The students are doing to great with the A4 one and now they have the opportunity to progress further with their communication skills as there are more available. Students are now starting to use the correct pathways in the PODD which has helped with their sentence structure and verbalising single words. Awesome work, Room 6!
In HASS, we have been learning about all the different celebrations around the world. With the cultural diversity we have in Room 6 and through the whole school, it has been great learning and understanding other cultures of our peers and teachers.
We are currently learning a dance routine with tapping sticks to the song ‘We Will Rock You’ by Queen. We are going to have some professional drummers and dancers in our classroom one day, I can see it!
Our students have just completed school swimming lessons. They absolutely loved getting in the water and learning new skills! They all behaved safely in public and transitioned tremendously between the bus and class.
Let’s keep up the good work Room 6 and continuing the amazing progress we have made so far this year!
